Lectures on Dante’s Inferno

Dante Alighieri is one of the most famous poets in the world and the greatest Christian and medieval/Renaissance poet of Europe. He is most famous for his work The Divine Comedy, the most famous of that three-part work being The Inferno. In three lectures, I explore and explain The Inferno by examining and summarizing the nine levels of hell, the symbolism of hell, and the friendship formed between Dante and his guide the Roman poet Virgil. In the course of these three online lectures, the world and symbolism and meaning of Dante’s Inferno is revealed in a splendid and dazzling display of Dante’s artistry and genius.

LECTURE ONE: UNDERSTANDING HELL – THE MEANING AND SYMBOLISM OF THE NINE CIRCLES

LECTURE TWO: THE SYMBOLISM OF THE CONSTRUCTION OF HELL

LECTURE THREE: THE RELATIONSHIP OF DANTE AND VIRGIL
